When evaluating a tool or service, the majority of people immediately delve into what they like and don’t like. That’s an error, specifically when looking at among many services in a particular classification. In this case, book summaries. No Longer Have Premium Blinkist With Scribd Subscription
The idea of a book summary itself has some particular advantages and disadvantages. Naturally, these will transfer to Blinkist and any other book summary service. You can’t truly blame a particular business for them.
Let’s first take a look at those, so we can much better determine the distinct pros and cons of Blinkist later.
Pros of checking out book summaries:.
You’ll skip all unneeded info. This is especially handy for books that just make one or a few good points. It also assists you prevent poor books completely.
You can discover more and different subjects quicker. Instead of being stuck on one book about meditation for a month, you can check out a summary in a couple of minutes. Then, you can jump to the next mindfulness book or a new subject completely.
You’ll likely remember more without keeping in mind. Considering that book summaries center around realities and brief methods to illustrate them, you’ll likely leave from one summary with 3-5 things you’ll remember. It’s tough to correctly remember anything if you check out a full book without taking notes.
Cons of reading book summaries:.
You’ll lose most of the story and humor of the book. This is bad, due to the fact that it makes checking out enjoyable. Depending upon how much you connect with the story, it also assists you remember a lot, even if you may need to keep in mind.
The best books strike hard with every page. Some books you simply have to check out in complete to get the most out of them.
Due to a lack of context, you might interpret truths the wrong way. In some cases, a summary specifies a concept one method, whereas the context of the book sets it up in another. But because that context is now missing, you’re interpreting the concept in a different way and thus get an impression the author didn’t desire you to have.
You are now trusting not just the author of the book, but likewise whoever wrote the summary. If the summary author does a bad job, you lose. They may fail to include an essential story and so you won’t keep in mind a vital reality.
Again, these apply to all book summaries and the services that provide them. With those in mind, let’s turn our attention to the Blinkist app user experience.

Blinkist extremely heavily promoted at me, so I chose to give it a go. Blinkist is an app that has many functions, they have audio books, they have podcasts and original material, but the main selling point, the important things that they promote, the important things that makes them different from other audiobook apps, is that they declare they can provide you the bottom lines of any non-fiction book in 15 minutes. Essentially, they are marketing themselves as an alternative to reading books or listening to full audio books by, and I estimate here from their site: “Check out or listen to the key concepts from best-selling nonfiction titles in 15 minutes” So the concept is that you get their app, you subscribe to it, and you can listen to as many books as possible that are condensed to 15 minutes, and they declare that you will still get the crucial concepts and an understanding of what the book has to do with.
I was dubious, I am a reader and even though I do not check out much non-fiction, since I much prefer checking out fiction, I do read some of it, some of the books that I saw advertised on Blinkist as 15-minute summaries, I just could not imagine being condensable into 15 minutes. Since we are talking about some really big books, about heavy, complicated principles that I simply didn’t think you can squeeze into 15 minutes. Okay, so I’ve got the Blinkist app in the Google Play Store and I’m going to install that. No Longer Have Premium Blinkist With Scribd Subscription
