What is the Headway app? Is Blinkist Trustworthy

When reviewing a tool or service, most people right away jump into what they like and don’t like. That’s an error, particularly when looking at one of many services in a particular classification. In this case, book summaries. Is Blinkist Trustworthy

The principle of a book summary itself has some specific benefits and disadvantages. Naturally, these will transfer to Blinkist and any other book summary service. You can’t really blame a specific company for them.

Let’s first look at those, so we can better determine the unique benefits and drawbacks of Blinkist later.

Pros of reading book summaries:.
You’ll skip all unnecessary info. This is particularly useful for books that just make one or a few good points. It also assists you prevent poor books completely.
You can learn more about more and various subjects much faster. Instead of being stuck on one book about meditation for a month, you can read a summary in a couple of minutes. Then, you can jump to the next mindfulness book or a new subject completely.
You’ll likely keep in mind more without taking notes. Given that book summaries focus around facts and brief ways to highlight them, you’ll likely come away from one summary with 3-5 things you’ll remember. If you check out a complete book without taking notes, it’s hard to correctly remember anything.
Cons of checking out book summaries:.
You’ll lose the majority of the story and humor of the book. This is bad, due to the fact that it makes reading fun. Depending on how much you get in touch with the story, it also helps you remember a lot, even if you may need to remember.
The finest books hit hard with every page. Some books you just have to check out in complete to get the most out of them.
Due to a lack of context, you may analyze facts the wrong way. Sometimes, a summary specifies a concept one way, whereas the context of the book sets it up in another. Because that context is now missing, you’re translating the idea in a different way and therefore get an impression the author didn’t desire you to have.
You are now trusting not just the author of the book, however likewise whoever wrote the summary. If the summary author does a bad job, you lose. They may fail to include a crucial story and so you will not keep in mind an essential fact.

Again, these apply to all book summaries and the services that offer them. With those in mind, let’s turn our attention to the Blinkist app user experience.

How does it feel to use the Blinkist app?

Initially, the Blinkist app is available for both iPhone and Android. Downloading the app is free. You can sign up using your email address or Facebook account. When you open the app for the very first time, you’ll get a brief tutorial of how everything works.

Among the first things you’ll observe is that the app just has 3 tabs for you to choose from:.

Discover. This is where you can explore their library and discover brand-new titles.
Library. Here, you’ll have access to your personal choice of books.
You. This is where your settings and saved highlights are.

This is dazzling, because it makes selecting and browsing the app what to do really easy. Let’s take a look at the individual tabs.

Blinkist really greatly advertised at me, so I chose to give it a go. Blinkist is an app that has lots of features, they have audio books, they have podcasts and initial material, but the main selling point, the important things that they promote, the thing that makes them different from other audiobook apps, is that they claim they can provide you the main points of any non-fiction book in 15 minutes. Essentially, they are advertising themselves as an alternative to listening or reading books to full audio books by, and I quote here from their site: “Listen or read to the key ideas from very popular nonfiction titles in 15 minutes” So the idea is that you get their app, you subscribe to it, and you can listen to as many books as possible that are condensed to 15 minutes, and they claim that you will still get the essential ideas and an understanding of what the book is about.

I was dubious, I am a reader and even though I do not check out much non-fiction, since I much prefer reading fiction, I do read some of it, some of the books that I saw marketed on Blinkist as 15-minute summaries, I just might not envision being condensable into 15 minutes. Because we are talking about some actually huge books, about heavy, complicated concepts that I simply didn’t think you can squeeze into 15 minutes. Okay, so I have actually got the Blinkist app in the Google Play Shop and I’m going to set up that. Is Blinkist Trustworthy
