When reviewing a tool or service, many people instantly delve into what they like and don’t like. That’s a mistake, particularly when looking at among lots of services in a specific category. In this case, book summaries. Download Blinkist Audio

The concept of a book summary itself has some particular benefits and downsides. Naturally, these will move to Blinkist and any other book summary service. You can’t truly blame a particular company for them.

Let’s first look at those, so we can better determine the unique benefits and drawbacks of Blinkist later.

Pros of checking out book summaries:.
You’ll skip all unnecessary details. This is particularly practical for books that just make one or a couple of good points. It likewise helps you avoid poor books completely.
You can learn more about more and different topics much faster. Instead of being stuck on one book about meditation for a month, you can check out a summary in a couple of minutes. You can jump to the next mindfulness book or a brand-new topic altogether.
You’ll likely remember more without bearing in mind. Given that book summaries center around realities and short methods to show them, you’ll likely leave from one summary with 3-5 things you’ll keep in mind. If you read a complete book without bearing in mind, it’s hard to properly remember anything.
Cons of checking out book summaries:.
You’ll lose most of the story and humor of the book. This is bad, since it makes reading enjoyable. Depending on just how much you connect with the story, it also assists you remember a lot, even if you may have to keep in mind.
You will lose out on concepts and spontaneous insights from truly excellent books. The best books strike hard with every page. It’s impossible to transfer all of their knowledge into a summary. Some books you just have to check out in full to get the most out of them.
Due to a lack of context, you might translate realities the wrong way. Often, a summary states an idea one way, whereas the context of the book sets it up in another. But because that context is now missing, you’re translating the idea in a different way and hence get an impression the author didn’t desire you to have.
You are now trusting not just the author of the book, however also whoever wrote the summary. If the summary writer does a bad job, you lose. For instance, they may stop working to consist of an important story therefore you will not remember a crucial truth.

Once again, these apply to all book summaries and the services that offer them. So with those in mind, let’s turn our attention to the Blinkist app user experience.

How does it feel to use the Blinkist app?

Downloading the app is free. When you open the app for the first time, you’ll get a short tutorial of how whatever works.

One of the first things you’ll discover is that the app only has 3 tabs for you to choose from:.

Discover. This is where you can explore their library and find new titles.
Library. Here, you’ll have access to your individual selection of books.
You. This is where your settings and conserved highlights are.

This is fantastic, since it makes picking and browsing the app what to do really easy. Let’s take a look at the specific tabs.

Blinkist really heavily promoted at me, so I decided to give it a go. Blinkist is an app that has numerous functions, they have audio books, they have podcasts and initial content, but the primary selling point, the important things that they promote, the thing that makes them different from other audiobook apps, is that they claim they can provide you the bottom lines of any non-fiction book in 15 minutes. Essentially, they are marketing themselves as an alternative to listening or checking out books to full audio books by, and I price estimate here from their website: “Check out or listen to the essential ideas from very popular nonfiction titles in 15 minutes” So the idea is that you get their app, you subscribe to it, and you can listen to as numerous books as possible that are condensed to 15 minutes, and they declare that you will still get the key concepts and an understanding of what the book is about.

I was dubious, I am a reader and even though I don’t read much non-fiction, given that I much choose reading fiction, I do check out some of it, some of the books that I saw promoted on Blinkist as 15-minute summaries, I just could not picture being condensable into 15 minutes. Due to the fact that we are talking about some actually big books, about heavy, complex concepts that I just didn’t think you can squeeze into 15 minutes. Okay, so I’ve got the Blinkist app in the Google Play Store and I’m going to set up that. Download Blinkist Audio
