What is the Headway app? Blinkist India
When examining a tool or service, many people right away delve into what they like and do not like. That’s an error, specifically when looking at among lots of services in a particular classification. In this case, book summaries. Blinkist India
The idea of a book summary itself has some particular advantages and drawbacks. Naturally, these will move to Blinkist and any other book summary service. You can’t truly blame a particular company for them.
Let’s first look at those, so we can much better determine the special benefits and drawbacks of Blinkist later on.
Pros of reading book summaries:.
You’ll skip all unneeded information. This is especially practical for books that just make one or a few assets. It also helps you avoid bad books altogether.
You can learn about more and different topics quicker. Instead of being stuck on one book about meditation for a month, you can read a summary in a couple of minutes. You can jump to the next mindfulness book or a brand-new subject entirely.
You’ll likely remember more without taking notes. Given that book summaries center around facts and short ways to highlight them, you’ll likely leave from one summary with 3-5 things you’ll remember. It’s difficult to appropriately memorize anything if you check out a complete book without taking notes.
Cons of reading book summaries:.
You’ll lose the majority of the story and humor of the book. This is bad, because it makes checking out fun. Depending upon how much you get in touch with the story, it also helps you remember a lot, even if you might need to remember.
You will lose out on big ideas and spontaneous insights from really great books. The very best books strike hard with every page. It’s impossible to move all of their understanding into a summary. Some books you just have to read in full to get the most out of them.
Due to a lack of context, you may interpret facts the wrong way. In some cases, a summary specifies an idea one way, whereas the context of the book sets it up in another. However because that context is now missing out on, you’re analyzing the concept differently and thus get an impression the author didn’t want you to have.
You are now relying on not simply the author of the book, but likewise whoever composed the summary. If the summary author does a bad job, you lose. For instance, they might fail to include an essential story and so you won’t keep in mind a vital reality.
Once again, these apply to all book summaries and the services that supply them. So with those in mind, let’s turn our attention to the Blinkist app user experience.
How does it feel to utilize the Blinkist app?
The Blinkist app is offered for both iPhone and Android. Downloading the app is complimentary. You can register using your e-mail address or Facebook account. You’ll get a short tutorial of how whatever works when you open the app for the first time.
One of the first things you’ll see is that the app only has three tabs for you to select from:.
Discover. This is where you can explore their library and discover new titles.
Library. Here, you’ll have access to your personal selection of books.
You. This is where your settings and conserved highlights are.
This is brilliant, because it makes selecting and browsing the app what to do really easy. Let’s look at the individual tabs.
Blinkist really heavily advertised at me, so I decided to give it a go. Blinkist is an app that has lots of features, they have audio books, they have podcasts and initial content, but the primary selling point, the important things that they promote, the thing that makes them various from other audiobook apps, is that they claim they can offer you the bottom lines of any non-fiction book in 15 minutes. Essentially, they are marketing themselves as an alternative to checking out books or listening to complete audio books by, and I quote here from their website: “Check out or listen to the essential ideas from very popular nonfiction titles in 15 minutes” So the concept is that you get their app, you sign up for it, and you can listen to as many books as possible that are condensed to 15 minutes, and they declare that you will still get the key ideas and an understanding of what the book is about.
I was suspicious, I am a reader and even though I do not read much non-fiction, considering that I much prefer reading fiction, I do read some of it, some of the books that I saw marketed on Blinkist as 15-minute summaries, I simply might not envision being condensable into 15 minutes. Because we are talking about some really huge books, about heavy, complicated concepts that I just didn’t believe you can squeeze into 15 minutes. Okay, so I’ve got the Blinkist app in the Google Play Shop and I’m going to set up that. Blinkist India
