What is the Headway app? Blinkist Cyper Monday

When reviewing a tool or service, most people immediately delve into what they like and don’t like. That’s a mistake, specifically when looking at among lots of services in a specific classification. In this case, book summaries. Blinkist Cyper Monday

The concept of a book summary itself has some specific benefits and downsides. Naturally, these will transfer to Blinkist and any other book summary service. You can’t actually blame a particular company for them.

Let’s first look at those, so we can better identify the distinct pros and cons of Blinkist later on.

Pros of reading book summaries:.
You’ll skip all unnecessary info. This is especially useful for books that only make one or a couple of good points. It also helps you avoid poor books entirely.
You can learn more about more and different topics quicker. Instead of being stuck on one book about meditation for a month, you can check out a summary in a couple of minutes. You can jump to the next mindfulness book or a brand-new subject entirely.
You’ll likely keep in mind more without bearing in mind. Considering that book summaries center around realities and short ways to illustrate them, you’ll likely leave from one summary with 3-5 things you’ll remember. It’s hard to effectively memorize anything if you check out a complete book without taking notes.
Cons of checking out book summaries:.
You’ll lose the majority of the story and humor of the book. This is bad, due to the fact that it makes checking out enjoyable. Depending on how much you connect with the story, it likewise assists you remember a lot, even if you may need to take notes.
You will lose out on concepts and spontaneous insights from genuinely excellent books. The very best books hit hard with every page. It’s difficult to move all of their knowledge into a summary. Some books you just have to read in full to get the most out of them.
Due to a lack of context, you may translate truths the wrong way. In some cases, a summary specifies a concept one way, whereas the context of the book sets it up in another. Because that context is now missing out on, you’re interpreting the idea differently and therefore get an impression the author didn’t desire you to have.
You are now relying on not just the author of the book, however likewise whoever composed the summary. You lose if the summary author does a bad job. They may fail to consist of a crucial story and so you will not remember an important fact.

Again, these apply to all book summaries and the services that supply them. With those in mind, let’s turn our attention to the Blinkist app user experience.

How does it feel to use the Blinkist app?

Downloading the app is complimentary. When you open the app for the first time, you’ll get a short tutorial of how whatever works.

One of the first things you’ll observe is that the app just has 3 tabs for you to pick from:.

Discover. This is where you can explore their library and discover new titles.
Library. Here, you’ll have access to your personal selection of books.
You. This is where your settings and saved highlights are.

This is brilliant, due to the fact that it makes navigating the app and selecting what to do actually easy. Let’s take a look at the individual tabs.

Blinkist extremely heavily advertised at me, so I chose to try. Blinkist is an app that has lots of functions, they have audio books, they have podcasts and original material, however the main selling point, the thing that they market, the important things that makes them different from other audiobook apps, is that they claim they can give you the main points of any non-fiction book in 15 minutes. Essentially, they are advertising themselves as an alternative to reading books or listening to complete audio books by, and I price quote here from their site: “Listen or check out to the key ideas from very popular nonfiction titles in 15 minutes” So the idea is that you get their app, you register for it, and you can listen to as numerous books as possible that are condensed to 15 minutes, and they claim that you will still get the key concepts and an understanding of what the book is about.

I was suspicious, I am a reader and even though I don’t check out much non-fiction, because I much choose checking out fiction, I do read some of it, some of the books that I saw marketed on Blinkist as 15-minute summaries, I just could not imagine being condensable into 15 minutes. Since we are talking about some really big books, about heavy, intricate principles that I just didn’t believe you can squeeze into 15 minutes. Okay, so I have actually got the Blinkist app in the Google Play Store and I’m going to set up that. Blinkist Cyper Monday
