How You Can Help
Performance Wellness, Inc. relies on support from foundations, corporations and individuals to carry out our vital mission: to conduct clinical research on methods to treat and prevent stress-related disorders in performers and other professionals; offer Music Therapy-Based Empowerment Programs for at-risk, inner city youth; offer our prevention-oriented Three-Level Certificate Training Program in Performance Wellness to educators, performers, health professionals, executives, and students; maintain our web-site which provides up-to-date wellness information, mental and physical health referrals, and ongoing Performance Wellness outreach to at-risk members of the community.
Performance Wellness Fundraising Campaign
Performance Wellness, Inc. has launched a campaign to establish the Performance Wellness Fund. With this fund, Performance Wellness, Inc. will be able to focus its efforts in those areas where we can make the greatest contribution to mental and behavioral health of performing musicians, and, in turn - through the increased output of the healing power of music produced by healthy musicians - to enhance the health of the public at-large. The Performance Wellness Fund will allow us to step up our efforts to prevent performance-related disorders in both student and professional musicians.
The funds collected from this campaign will enable Performance Wellness, Inc. to continue our ongoing research focusing on the treatment and prevention of stress in the performing arts and cultivate our new Music Therapy Empowerment Program for at-risk, inner city youth. In addition, funds will be used to develop our new Performance Wellness Center that will be located on the Upper West Side. We believe that through our research and related programs, we will have an important impact on the future of musical performance, mentoring, and the health of musicians both in the United States and abroad. We need your help! Financial support at all levels - from $25 to $25,000 will assist Performance Wellness, Inc. in achieving our goals and making a difference in the lives of budding musicians, professionals, educators, and listeners alike.
Ongoing Research Programs
In partnership with The Turtle Bay Music School, one of the oldest community music schools in New York City, Performance Wellness, Inc. has established the Music Empowerment (ME) Program for At-Risk Teenage Girls in Foster Care. We have already received start-up funds from the Van Ameringen Foundation and the TBMS Margueles Endowment and require additional funds in the amount of $25,000 to hire research assistants and develop our music therapy internship program in connection with The New School Certificate Program in Creative Arts Therapy.
Also in partnership with The Turtle Bay Music School, we are currently awaiting funding from the Johnson & Johnson Foundation in conjunction with the Society for the Arts in Healthcare to establish a Music Empowerment Program for the Prevention of Type 2 Diabetes in At-Risk Inner City Children. Additional funds in the amount of $10,000 are needed to provide medical assays as part of the research protocol.
